Boron nitrida heksagon tidak larut dalam air sejuk. Apabila air dididihkan, ia terhidrolisis dengan sangat perlahan dan menghasilkan sedikit asid borik dan ammonia. Ia tidak bertindak balas dengan asid lemah dan bes kuat pada suhu bilik, dan sedikit larut dalam asid panas. Ia mempunyai rintangan kakisan yang besar kepada pelbagai asid tak organik, bes, larutan garam dan pelarut organik.
